They have been incredible supporters of the sport from the beginning! Also, huge gratitude goes to Bob and Ted Detwiler at USPMGA and Pat Sheridan and Tom Loftus at American Mini Golf Alliance for being forever supportive of what we are doing here in the South’s headquarters, and for sponsoring some of our tournaments. Lastly, I cannot thank those enough who have journeyed to ATL to play with us. We are excited for what we are doing and the direction we are going. To share mini golf as a hilarious, fun, and competitive sport is all we wanted to do in the beginning. You all have helped make it ‘a thing’. 🙂 – Bryan & Amanda

Course Record Broken as Reeves Wins TN Pro Mini Golf Open

The US Pro Mini Golf Association’s TN Pro Mini Golf Open was held Saturday, August 26, at Mossy Creek Mini Golf in Jefferson City, TN. Randy Reeves (Montgomery, AL) won the five-round event after opening the tournament with a new course record round of 30 including six aces and no bogeys. Reeves was off to a hot start sitting at 9 under after the first two rounds. Gary Hester’s (Calabash, NC) final round of 35 (-1) secured his second-place finish over last year’s champion Joey Graybeal (Bristol, TN). Hester got off to a slow start shooting rounds of 38 and 37 leaving him 3 over par and 12 shots back of the leader. He shot his best round of the day at 33 in the third round to bring him back into contention, especially with Reeves’s third-round score of 39. Graybeal also shot a 33 in the third round and left himself sitting at 2 below par heading into the afternoon. At this point, Graybeal was ahead of Hester’s even par after 3. Hester beat the heat and finished the afternoon session two under par while Graybeal shot one over in the humid afternoon session. Mossy Creek member Jason Raby (Knoxville, TN) represented the local contenders well, finishing the tournament at 2 over par with rounds of 36, 38, 38, 35, and 35. This placed him in a tie for fourth with Kingsport, TN native Joey Baldasano. Baldasano also beat this heat shooting 34 and 35 (-3) in the afternoon session to overcome a tough five over-par third round. Susan Crane (Soddy Daisy, TN) was able to take home her first Pro Women’s Division Championship. Her best round of 37 in the third round extended her lead in the women’s division, going on to win the title by 28 strokes. Randy Reeves is a former USPMGA Masters champion, winning the tournament in South Carolina in 2016. He is also a past Nationals champion and past National Invitational Match Play champion with the Professional Putters Association (PPA). Reeves was inducted into the PPA Hall of Fame in 2012. The next major USPMGA event will be the USPMGA Masters held in North Myrtle Beach, SC October 5-7. The TN Pro Mini Golf Open this year was part of the inaugural season of the Southern Swing Tour. Hester won the first stop of the tour, the Putters League Championship, at The Fringe mini golf course in Roswell, GA. Hester’s second-place finish in the TN Open placed him securely in the points lead for the Southern Swing Tour. The final stop on the tour is the North Carolina Pro-Am at Lakeview Putt and Play in Arden, NC on September 16, 2023.
Putters League Championship 2023

Thank to everyone who came out and played in our first annual Putters League Championship, last Saturday July 15th at The Fringe in Roswell, Ga. With over 30+ confirmed we were excited to see the nearly thirty that attended in the heat wave that pushed near 100°!!! We also had representatives from six states. Competitors from Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, and Minnesota showed up for their chance to take home the crystal trophy and first place medal. Gary Hester took home that crystal / medal combo. This is Gary’s fourth 1st place in a row at The Fringe’s Chattahoochee Gulch course amongst several other 1st place awards this year (including WPL and Popstroke)! The champ played all 5 rounds under par for a finish at -12. Mossy Creek Mini Golf owner Kyle Cutshaw (TN) finished second (-7) and GA pro & general putting legend Gary English took the bronze (-2). Co-Founder Amanda Farahany took the gold in women’s (+11) followed up by Susan Crane (TN : +36) and Kelly Miller (GA : +39). The Amateur division was won by Al Tiangco (+2), followed up by Alex Everette (+14) and Gene Moore (+20). We also want to give special thanks to a few people who really made this event special. So many thanks go to Kyle Cutshaw. Kyle is the brain trust behind the Summer Swing series, and as afore mentioned the owner of Mossy Creek Mini Golf in Jefferson City Tennessee. Not only has he been hosting huge minigolf events, he has been advising us from the beginning over a year ago when we wanted to start putting together tournaments in metro Atlanta. We are so happy that he was able to come, compete well, and brought with him his adorable family and some serious putters from his home course. Thanks Kyle for everything. We are looking forward to the second tournament for the Summer Swing at his course Saturday August 26th. Check out Kyle and his family’s course at www.puttmc.com and Another friend that contributed so so much is Tom Loftus. As the representative (all the way from Minnesota!) and co-founder of the American Mini Golf Alliance, Tom was a major influencer and huge amount of help as he took photos and videos, let us bounce ideas off of him, and arranged Putters League’s involvement into the AMA. Thank you Tom for all you did for us that entire week! For more info on the AMA and to join, visit amaminigolf.com and check in on your points awarded! There may be some upcoming tournaments and opportunities to climb their leaderboard with us soon (wink wink!). Alas, we want to give a special thanks to Barb and the team at Aurora Cineplex & Area 51 – The Fringe for being so supportive of mini golf, the growth of the sport, and of course its locals. Without you letting us do whatever we want, organized mini golf in metro ATL wouldn’t be a thing. More soon on our tournament in October and looking forward to seeing all of you once again soon! As our friends at Puttcast say, “putt when ready!” – Amanda and Bryan
